Silk wrap nails are often preferred over other types of artificial nails because they are flexible and natural looking. Silk wraps are also extensively used during natural nail manicures to repair broken or split nails.

A small piece of silk material is cut to the size and shape of the fingernail and applied using a small amount of glue. Once the glue is dry (often an 'activator' is used) , the silk wrap is buffed to smooth the surface, and the process is complete.
